Stress-Free Living

Stress, Loss, And Life Change

The fact that I have to add a section on stress is simply due to the reality that I, like many of us, have accepted that stress is an inevitable part of life.

This is understandable because I doubt that any of you can say that your lives are stress free. In fact, sometimes people tell me that their number one goal is to get rid of the stress in their lives. I can understand that because there was a time in my life when I asked for the same thing and didn't understand why I couldn't accomplish it. Actually, the more I tried to relieve the stress the more stressed I felt!

What I did learn was that stress will be here. We can get rid of some of it, but for the most part, we must learn how to live with it so that we minimize the degree of physical or emotional consequences.

What's particularly important is to discover ways to live with stress so we can still enjoy the things that life and the world have to offer. Some things can be uplifting and just plain fun and the stress, which may never leave completely or forever, cannot be permitted to interfere.

A fantasy? No, not a fantasy at all. Whether it is for an hour, a day or a week, there are ways to find enjoyment beyond the stress. Ways to take little breaks, or vacations, from the stress.

Some ways of handling stress include using what is commonly referred to as Stress Busters.

Some of you have already been introduced to the practice of Mindful Meditation and may be familiar with its benefits. Or perhaps you may have heard a brief explanation of meditation. And the rest of you don't know, and haven't wanted to know, anything about meditation.

I believe in the damage stress causes to our bodies and minds. I also am convinced of the effectiveness of meditation in relieving and preventing much of that damage.

In each issue of my ezine, I will include a section on stress. It may have a discussion, a new finding or suggestion, or perhaps a new stress management technique. The first item that all of us need in order to deal with loss and change is a toolbox. Whatever it is called, a tool or a Stress Buster, it is something that I hope all of you will acquire or add to the methods you have already learned.

So in my ezine, "Secrets of Successful Change: Your Silent Partner", I will include a comment and/or technique to guide you toward the goal of reducing the effects of stress.

I will also provide you with resources that I have used successfully to deal with stress, along with pointers for you to get them.

I hope you will take advantage of what I offer by signing up for my ezine at the left. I particularly encourage you to and ask for what you need in this area.

You are welcome to send me additional techniques that I have not mentioned that you have found beneficial. Any suggestions that contribute to the reduction and management of stress will be gladly received.
